Hurricane Katrina Photos: Ships were lifted by hurricane storm surges and deposited side-by-side.View of two Army Logistic Support Vessels (LSVs) stranded in marsh at Moss Point, near Pascagoula, Mississippi. The ships were lifted by hurricane storm surges and deposited side by side on land. Each vessel is loaded with 30,000 gallons of fuel. The vessels dont have any apparent damage and the fuel tanks are not leaking. Adjacent marshland and mudflats would be at risk, if the fuel were to spill. This photo was taken during a survey evaluating a proposed salvage plan. Army LSVs, Moss Point, MS, 11 Oct. 2005 Date Oct-12-2005 09:00 AM -illinoisphoto.com enhanced usgov image- |
