Katrina Images: The water stood more than 6 feet deep inside his house at the highest point of the flooding.

KEESLER AIR FORCE BASE, Miss. -- Staff Sgt. Jose Espola-Negron looks in disbelief as most of the items in his on-base house were ruined from flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Before returning from Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., where his family evacuated, the only tidbit of information he had was from a neighbor who said that his home had taken in a lot of water. The water stood more than 6 feet deep inside his house at the highest point of the flooding. Sergeant Espola-Negron is an air traffic control instructor with the 334th Training Readiness Squadron here. (U.S. Air Force photo by Joe Piccorossi)
